This Week in Math, Social Studies, and Science

December 8 - 12
 
We will begin full rehearsals for the musical this week in Extension. The Students will go to the Civic Center for a dress rehearsal next week. Please send their permission slips back as soon as possible.

 

Math:

Classwork: We will continue to work on fractions. Please make sure that your child is able to change  back and forth from improper fractions and mixed numbers as well as simplify fractions. We are working on adding and subtracting fractions with unlike denominators this week in the 1st Block class and have started multiplying and dividing fractions in the 2nd Block class.

My 1st period class will take their
SUMMATIVE TEST on adding and subtracting fractions at the end of the week.

Homework: Students are to complete 8 Accelerated math problems, make corrections on pages when asked,  and complete any classwork that they were not able to finish at school. 

Social Studies:

Classwork: We will begin a Westward Expansion unit on Tuesday that will include a lot of research in the classroom. We will start out talking about Cowboys and Cattle Drives and will then move to the economy of the late 1800's early 1900's.
 
Homework: Study vocabulary, notes, handouts, and covered pages in the textbook about 10 minutes every night.
 
Science:

Classwork: We will take the SUMMATIVE Classification Test on Monday.
 
Homework: Students should study vocabulary, notes, and handouts about 10 minutes every night.
