Week of August 24

Please make sure that your child packs their book bag each night so that they have their textbooks, toolkit, agenda, math folder, homework, and classroom packets.

The classwork scheduled for this week is:

Math

Classwork: We will continue working on our whole number unit. Students  have a packet filed in their math folder.  We are working on dividing multi-digit numbers. It is very difficult for the students who do not know their math facts to complete these problems.

Homework: Please make sure that your child is fluent with their multiplication and division facts through the 12s. If you need flash cards, they are available at the Dollar Stores, Walmart, and Target. Some of the websites located on this blog will also allow you to print flash cards at home. When you see the cc written in your child's agenda, it means they should finish the page we were working on during class. If they do not have a page with unanswered problems, they have probably finished what they needed to.  In my 1st block class, students should be going onto the Renaissance Learning Website to complete  8 problems each night. Students in my 2nd Block class have a printed handout of their work. All student should scan on the 4th school day after receiving an assignment. Students should easily be able to complete their homework in 20 minutes.

Science
Classwork: We are working on the Cells and Microorganism unit. Students  have a packet filed in their science section of their toolkit. We are learning about plant and animal cells and the structures that make up each one.

Homework: Please have your child set aside approximately 10 minutes each night to review/study the materials covered in class. They need to begin developing good study habits.  The Cells Quizlet on the right hand side of the blog is a good way to practice also.

Social Studies
Classwork: We will  Complete Chapter 11, Lesson 3 this week. We will continue with Citizen Rights and Responsibilities and the Amendments. Students need to study the Amendments every night.

Homework: Please have your child set aside approximately 10 minutes each night to review/study the materials covered in class. They need to begin developing good study habits. SUMMATIVE TEST coming soon. The Bill of Rights Quizlet is a good way to practice also.
